Hand wheels are available for Worm Screw Jack so that it can be easily used for manual operation. Hand wheels are used for self-lock equipped Machine Screw Type Power Jacks only. Worm gear is rotated by worm screw. The lifting screw moves through the rotating worm gear. The linear motion speed of lifting screw depends on thread size and rotation ratio of worm gears.
Hand Wheel Screw Jack is very popular for all kinds of applications. So when to use it?
1. In case of power failure, screw jacks can be moved manually via a handwheel. To do this, one input shaft shall be available on the screw jack for the connection of the handwheel. If a brake motor is used, the brake shall be un-clamped firstly, so to allow for movement.
2. Light load, low duty cycle, low-speed application.
3. Intermittent positioning applications
Our standard jacks use Trapezoidal screw and have self-locking function which is very safe for manually operated by hand. We have different models for your selection, our jtw series machine screw jack is the most cost-effective selection for this application. You can also use digital position indicators if you need more precise position display. It can measure the rotations of the input shaft and display the corresponding position in the digital counter window. The display value per input shaft revolution is variable and is achieved through a series of gear reductions configured to accommodate different worm gear screw jack ratios, screw pitch, and travel length.
A hand wheel is a convenient solution for manually operating a jack when using machine screw jacks in intermittent positioning applications. Hand wheels are available in a range of diameters from 5 to 16 inches and can be adapted for use on jacks up to the 20 tons capacity model. NOTE: Hand wheels do not include a brake and therefore are not for use with ball screw jacks. When using hand wheels with a jack that can back drive (12:1 and lower) an additional locking mechanism may be required to prevent "creep".
